About Malta

Malta is an archipelago of three islands, with a surface area of 316 sq km, in the centre of the Mediterranean.  Malta is an island boasting long-standing traditions, a rich cultural heritage and a history pre-dating the pyramids. Remnants of the earliest civilizations still remain on the island in the form of mysterious large stone megalithic temples, which are known to be the oldest freestanding monuments in the world.  The stunning fortress city of Valletta is an example of the rich architectural heritage built during the reign of the knights of St. John. Despite its small size, Malta is known for its hospitality and diversity which is why it appeals to visitors of all ages.  The sister island of Gozo can be reached by a 30 minute boat trip. Gozo is a rural and relatively unspoilt island; its culture and way of life rooted in fishing and agricultural activity.
